FUN KIDS IN THE SHOP
This week there have been a lot of fun kids visiting the Gourmet Lady.
Tracy and Fish were back in town (yes, that's his real name!), their 2 girls were delighted to find that in addition to wintertime pink hot cocoa, there is also strawberry lemonade. These are the mixes with Raggedy Ann on the package.
Elan was persuaded to draw a picture at the counter, and what a beautiful shark he drew.
A large number of kids in delightful sun hats.
I like to ask them questions: How old are you? How old do you think I am? (Kids that have indicated their age by holding up a small number of fingers are always mystified by this. Kids who verbalize the answer will often guess something hilarious like 85. I do feel 85 somedays, but I'm not!) Do you drive the car yet? Are you married? Do you have any kids?
One day a mother and daughter came in. They had come to the shop and peeked through the window on Wednesday when the shop was closed. The daughter had spied a box of Little Lemon Ladies, these sweet cookies from England. The display had just one box, though more were shelved elsewhere. They came in on Thursday at 10:01 in order to nab that "one box" of Little Lemon Ladies. This is how I know it is summer, when customers follow me through the door at 10:01. Happy summer day to you! |
