Well, hello there from the Gourmet Lady. I've received some recent comments and emails along the lines of "where's the blog?" and "where's the newsletter?" For those of you fussing over lack of blog from the Gourmet Lady -- you're reading it NOW, so please be quiet.
Now -- about the newsletter. For some time I sent it monthly and then almost every month and then when I felt like it, and then -- the summer hit and I didn't send it at all. Even my father's stockbroker commented to him, "I haven't heard from the Gourmet Lady for quite awhile." OK, OK, OK -- I'll send a newsletter with some ideas for shopping early for Christmas. Watch for it in the next few weeks.
By the way, it was one hectic summer. I do believe that I worked harder than I ever have. Unfortunately although it was profitable, working this hard wasn't such a good idea and I lost my sense of humor, but this was only a temporary situation. With the help of Gerry and Debbie who ran the store in my absence, I ran away for two weeks and rested.
It was my birthday while I was gone, so I collected cake, presents, cards, and was treated to lovely meals in wonderful places. Favorites were the Lark Creek Inn in my former hometown of Larkspur, California -- a restaurant by famed chef Bradley Ogden. And tea at the Ritz Carlton San Francisco was an absolute delight. They sure do have a fabulous way of taking good care of guests. I must say though, that I prefer the lemon curd in my store (Elizabethan -- from England) as well as the clotted cream. I believe I am entitled to my own prefernces. After all, I *am* the Gourmet Lady, and it was my birthday. Remember, my "birthday month" continues through all of October. |
