Specialty Food Magazine reported in the March 2006 issue about 4,000 year old pasta. “A recent archaeological find, documented in the journal Nature, detailed a fascinating discovery: a 4,000 year old bowl of yellow noodles was uncovered at the Laija archaeological dig near the Yellow River in northwestern China. The noodles are about 50 centimeters long and nearly 3 millimeters in diameter, and appear to have been made by stretching millet flour dough by hand. This proves that people were eating pasta in China at least 3,000 years before Marco Polo supposedly brought the practice to Italy.”
It also might suggest that way back then there existed the equivalent of leaving leftovers way too long in your refrigerator. What’s at the back of your fridge?
